Natalie Phelps Finnie has been appointed to replace her cousin, Brandon Phelps, as state representative for the 118th district.
Finnie is a nurse practitioner. She said her priorities in office will be the opioid crisis and job creation in Southern Illinois.
Finnie’s father is David Phelps, who served in the state legislature and as a US Congressman.
Massac County State’s Attorney Patrick Windhorst, who has announced he will run as a Republican for the 118th district seat next year – said the district is – quote – not the Phelps family seat.
