Carbondale man convicted on weapons charge

A Carbondale man has been convicted on one count for the unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

According to a press release from the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, the case against 40-year-old Terrill Walker started in March of last year when Carbondale Police set up set up video surveillance at an apartment complex in an attempt to locate Walker who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Walker was subsequently located by police and taken into custody.

It was later that same day, the apartment manager contacted police, telling them that a handgun and the barrel of a long gun were found in plain view.

Officers obtained a warrant and found handgun, rifle, and several round of ammunition.

Walker is scheduled to be sentenced May 29, 2018.
