“Armed Habitual Criminal” arrested in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — A 24-year-old Carbondale man has been arrested on a number of charges, including being an armed habitual criminal.

Kevonta Thomas was arrested Monday night after police were called to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane after a report of a person with a gun.

When officers located Thomas, he ran into a residence. Some time later, Thomas tried to escape the scene in a vehicle. He was stopped by police and taken into custody without further incident.

Thomas was arrested on charges of being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass to real property, and resisting a peace officer.
