Multiple Logan men’s basketball players earn end-of-season awards

Four John A. Logan men’s basketball players were recognized Wednesday for their stellar seasons and efforts.

Sydney Curry, a Kansas commit, was recognized as both the GRAC and Region 24 Co-Player of the Year after shooting 66.9% and averaging 13.2 ppg and 8.1 rpg in 17 games this season.

Jamarion Sharp, a Western Kentucky commit, earned All-Region 24 and GRAC All-Conference recognition.  Sharp, a 7-3 center, averaged 7.9 ppg on 56% shooting, along with 7.5 rpg and 6.0 blocks per game in 23 games this season.

Sophomore point guard Cam Alford was another Logan player named to the All-Region 24 and GRAC All-Conference teams.  Alford averaged 12.8 ppg on 46.7% shooting, 4.4 apg, 3.9 rpg, and 2.0 spg in 24 games played.

Xavier Ball served as Logan’s primary sixth man this past season and was recognized as a GRAC All-Conference selection and earned the Region 24 Tournament MVP award.  In 24 games, Ball averaged 12.5 ppg on 49.8% shooting with 4.4 rpg and 2.2 apg.  Ball scored 28 points in the Region 24 Tournament final in a 77-68 win over Vincennes.

Coach Kyle Smithpeters was also recognized as the Region 24 Coach of the Year after leading the Vols to an 18-4 record, including a 10-3 GRAC record.
