The Carterville Lions announced Friday afternoon that they have been able to secure an opponent for tonight. The Lions will be hosting Bayless High School of Missouri, from St. Louis at 7pm on Friday night.
The Lions were originally meant to play Herrin on Friday night before the Tigers announced on Thursday that they had a positive COVID test and through contact tracing had deemed Friday night’s game something they could not participate in.
The Broncos seem to have learned something similar as their original opponent tonight, Bishop DuBourg, tweeted out at 9:20 Friday morning “The game at Bayless tonight has been canceled out of an abundance of caution. We will return next fall.”
Sad news for football and our fans. The game at Bayless tonight has been cancelled out of an abundance of caution. We will return to action next fall.

The Lions are 2-1 this season, the Broncos are 1-2. This is the second time this season the Carterville Lions are playing a team from out of state after playing McCluer last week.
