SALINE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A two week delay has been agreed to in the trial of Alexander McWilliam, the Harrisburg man charged with murder in the March shooting death of 19-year-old Mishealia Meredith.
McWilliam, 36, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Thursday where the state would present their evidence against him. Instead, when McWilliam appeared in Judge Walden Morris’ courtroom without an attorney, Morris delayed future proceedings until May 6, 2021. McWilliam says he’s still trying to find legal representation.
If McWilliam can’t find an attorney by May 6, a court appointed attorney will be assigned.
