WHITE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A White County judge has ruled the state’s FOID card law is unconstitutional.
Judge T. Scott Webb ruled Tuesday that requiring someone to pay a fee to exercise their Second Amendment right violates the constitution.
The decision is in the case of a woman charged in 2017 with having a gun in her home without having a valid FOID card.
Illinois FOID cards are still in force. The ruling only applies to a single individual. The case is expected to be heard by the Illinois Supreme Court.
