WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A Metropolis man is dead after a head-on crash Thursday in Williamson County.
It happened just before 11:00 a.m. on Route 148, just north of Flatts School Road.
Illinois State Police say that the 73-year-old driver of a Nissan sedan was northbound on 148 when he drifted across the center line, hitting another vehicle head-on. The 73-year-old driver was flown to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. His name has not yet been released.
The occupants of the second vehicle, a 31-year-old woman and a 7-year-old child, were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
