Carbondale’s Evergreen Park to temporarily close for improvements

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — Carbondale’s Evergreen Park will close on Monday while improvements are made.

Carbondale was one of 17 communities statewide to be awarded funding through recent Rebuild Illinois Grants. The $1.2 million will be used to replace the restrooms, pave the roads and parking lots within the park, and add sidewalks to make the park more accessible.

Work on the roads and sidewalks begins Monday. The park will then reopen and then work on the restrooms is expected to begin next month.
