MARION, Ill. (WJPF) — The owners of the Southern Illinois Miners are retiring.
Jayne and John Simmons made the surprise announcement Wednesday that the recently wrapped 2021 season was the franchise’s last. The couple, who have owned the team since the beginning 14 years ago, say they want to spend more time with their family.
The future of the stadium is not yet known.
