SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) – A drawing was held Tuesday in Springfield to determine for the next ten years the term length of state senate districts.

In Illinois, senators serve in revolving terms lasting either four or two years.

This year, the 58th Senate District, now represented by Republican Terri Bryant, will be a two year term. The district will be a four year term in 2024 and again in 2028.

The 59th Senate District, now represented by Republican Dale Fowler, will be a four year term in 2022 and again in 2026. It will then be a two year term in 2030.
