ALTO PASS, Ill. (WJPF) – The welcome center at the Bald Knob Cross now has its own source of water.
Up until now, water for drinking fountains, cooking, and restrooms had to be trucked in and then held in a cistern.
Earlier this week, well diggers hit water nearly 1,185 feet below the surface. For perspective, the cross itself stands 111 feet tall.
The well should cost about $70,000 when complete.
