An Illinois State Police trooper was injured Saturday when his squad car was struck by a passing motorist.
The trooper was assisting the Bloomington Police Department with a traffic accident investigation. A Volkswagen utility vehicle failed to yield to the stationary emergency vehicle and struck it from behind. The trooper was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.
The 24-year-old driver was arrested for DUI and violation of Scott’s Law, along with other traffic violations.
So far this year, there have been nine ISP squad cars struck in relation to the move over law and four troopers have sustained injuries.
