NEW ATHENS, Ill. (WJPF) – One man was killed and two more were hurt when they apparently walked in on a home burglary in progress.
It happened at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at a home in rural New Athens.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office says when officers arrived on the scene one man was already deceased. Another man was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries and a third was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are looking for a blue or gray Chevrolet Lumina with yellow light on top that was seen driving away from the scene.
