Marion schools placed on soft lockdown Tuesday after shooting threat

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Marion Unit 2 School District administrators say the person who made a threat against the district has been identified.

The school district was placed on a “soft lockdown” Tuesday after a letter was found in a high school bathroom stating that a school shooting would happen later that day.

City and state police provided additional security throughout the day and remained on school grounds until all students had left for the day.
