The Carbondale Lights Fantastic Parade is December 3rd.
The parade will start at 6pm on South Illinois Avenue at Mill Street and go north on Illinois Avenue, around the Town Square on Jackson and Washington Streets, to Main Street where it ends.
Street Closures will start at 5pm and you can expect detours on Main Street, Walnut Street, and Illinois Avenue. Roads will open after the parade ends, which is usually around 8pm.
Shuttle bus stops:
Murdale Shopping Center (pickup near the barber shop) and Oak & Illinois (drop off near the Dayemi Center)
University Mall (pickup near the main mall entrance by Maurice’s) and Washington & Main (drop off near Veteran’s Memorial Plaza)
There will also be some other events going on including a cookie walk where you can visit participating businesses along the parade route for cookies and other treats, letters to Santa at the old train depot, pictures with Mrs. Claus and a Reindeer at the Town Square Pavilion and a chili supper by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois at the Carbondale Civic Center. Those events will all take place starting at 4pm before the parade.
