One cited after large fight at “nuisance” nightclub

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WJPF) – One person was cited after a fight involving up to 20 people in the parking lot of an unlicensed night club in Williamson County.

Law enforcement were called early Sunday morning to Club 262, also known as Foreign’s Playland, located at 10032 Samuel Road near Carterville.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says an argument inside of the club spilled into the parking lot where it turned physical.  When police arrived, they say they found between 75 and 100 people in the parking lot and several simultaneous disturbances.  They say the crowd was unruly and intoxicated and the smell of cannabis hung in the air.

The owner of the club, Sierra Alderton, told police that everyone involved was family.

One woman, Jocelyn Thomas, was taken to jail for resisting a peace officer.

In April, one person was shot at the same club.  No arrests have been announced.  The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says their investigation is ongoing.
