Two arrested after gunfire exchanged on Route 13 near Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Two men have been arrested in connection to a weekend shooting in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, the occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire on Route 13, just east of town. The driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles later showed up at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.  After receiving treatment, Dejuon Baltimore, 23, of Champaign, was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.  The other person in the vehicle was treated and let go.

Around 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Carbondale Police located the second vehicle involved and arrested Levar Woods, 25, of Carbondale. Woods had two guns in the vehicle.  He faces a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
