The Centralia Orphans have struggled to start the 2023 football season, dropping their first three games. They have a -54 point differential in their three games up to this point.
Friday night, the Orphans were set to compete against Granite City, another winless team, in a battle for their first victory. Instead, the Orphans can begin to turn their attention to their Week 5 opponent, the Carbondale Terriers, after the Granite City School District 9 announced they will be forfeiting Friday night’s game.
In cooperation with the IHSA and due to suspensions issued to the football program, Granite City High School will be forfeiting its home game vs. Centralia on Friday, Sept. 15. The game will not be rescheduled. pic.twitter.com/weCDQJDbjy
