Juvenile arrested in connection to Carbondale carjacking

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A juvenile has been arrested in connection to a violent carjacking last week in Carbondale.

It happened at about 11:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, in the 900 block of West McDaniel Street, behind the old National Guard armory building.

Police say the vehicle was stopped when the juvenile approached the driver, struck up a conversation, shot the driver through the vehicle’s window, and then stole the vehicle.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury. The stolen vehicle was recovered a few blocks away. The juvenile carjacker was arrested Saturday night in Williamson County and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
