GRAND TOWER, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people were killed in an industrial accident Monday in Grand Tower.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at about 4:50 p.m. at the Kinder Morgan natural gas pipeline construction site. Workers are burying an existing pipeline under the Mississippi River. Currently, natural gas is carried across the river through a pipeline suspended over the water.
Two people, Barbara Reid, 47, of Mississippi, and Brandon Durand, 43, of Louisiana, died at the scene. Two more people were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later released.
