BENTON, Ill. (WJPF) – A correctional officer at the Franklin County jail sustained serious injuries after they were physically attacked by an inmate.
Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says the female officer was punched in the face Thursday morning by 29-year-old inmate Amber Sutton. Sutton was being moved to a different holding facility within the jail. According to court documents, Sutton has been in and out of jail over the past two years, most recently incarcerated for trespassing and damaging property.
Amber Sutton now faces additional charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated battery.
