CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) Two SIU students were killed Monday in a traffic crash on US 51 in Carbondale.
According to the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, Wolfgang Gustaveson, 19, of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Francis Martinez, 18, of Des Plaines, Illinois, died at the scene.
Carbondale Police say at about 7:45 a.m., two trucks collided head-on on US 51 between West Willow Street and Dillinger Road. Gustaveson and Martinez were headed north. The single occupant of the southbound vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
