Murphysboro woman sentenced in husband’s death

A Murphysboro woman has been sentenced to 50 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a 2022 murder.

41-year-old Alexis Stallman was sentenced Wednesday, according to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph Cervantez.

On July 20, 2022, Alexis Stallman was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery in the death of Edward A. Stallman.

Deputies responded to an IDOT work zone in Murphysboro on that date. Edward Stallman sustained a puncture wound to the chest that was not consistent with a vehicular crash injury. Edward was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to a local hospital.

Alexis Stallman must serve 100 percent of her sentence.
