MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A Georgia man is facing drug trafficking charges after he was caught with over 400 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Jefferson County.
Illinois State Police say Mikhail Subbotin, 48, was pulled over Wednesday morning on Interstate 64 for speeding. ISP says after the trooper smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle it was searched and police found several boxes filled with marijuana.
Mikhail Subbotin was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of possession of more that 5,000 grams of cannabis, cannabis trafficking, and possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver. According to online court documents, a Russian interpreter has been requested to assist with Mikhail Subbotin’s legal proceedings.
