MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Apple Air Tags helped police in Williamson County track down stolen tools.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says the owner of the tools was remodeling a home on Route 37, south of Marion, and became suspicious that someone had been trespassing on the property. The owner hid air tags inside some of his tools and installed a trail camera on the property.
The owner called police around noon Friday reporting that a pair of nail guns had been stolen. He gave police the information needed to track the air tags. Police followed the signal to home on South Third Street in Marion where they found the tools and arrested 54-year-old Christie Shultz.
Christie Shutltz was taken to the Williamson County Jail on charges of burglary.
