BENTON, Ill. (WJPF) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is putting is warning the public about a scam that they say has already affected a number of people in the county.
The FCSO says to be suspicious of any letter claiming to be from the “Law Office of Jim Braiden.” These letters make the claim that a distant relative of the letter’s recipient has passed away and that a large life insurance policy has not been claimed.
If you were to call a phone number included in the letter, you would be asked to provide specific details like your banking information.
