ST. LOUIS – Southern Illinois pitcher Aidan Foeller has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, the League office announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first MVC weekly award of the season for the Salukis.
The right-hander put together a masterful performance on the mound Sunday afternoon to help the Salukis secure a series win over Jacksonville State.
A Nesbit, Mississippi native, Foeller dominated early as he retired five of the first six batters he faced on strikeouts. Foeller did not allow a baserunner until the third inning of action and held the Gamecocks without a hit until the sixth inning. He ended his day with six complete innings, striking out nine batters.
On the season, Foeller is 2-0 with a 5.14 ERA. He has struck out 33 while issuing just 12 walks in 21 innings of work.
