POPE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Parts of the Shawnee National Forest are off limits Monday as forest workers tend to the embers of a wildfire.
The Forest Service says crews responded Sunday to an 86 acre fire north of Millstone Bluff. On Monday, Millstone Lake and the River to River Trail between Cedar Grove Church Road and the Jackson Falls area remained closed to the public.
It’s currently not known what started the fire.
