SIU women’s basketball inks Ariana Peagler to 2024 recruiting class

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Guard Ariana Peagler has signed with the Southern Illinois University women’s basketball team, as announced by head coach Kelly Bond-White.

Peagler is a 5-foot-7 guard who will be an incoming freshman for the Salukis.

Peagler is an explosive guard that will add depth to SIU’s guard position.

Before arriving at Southern, Peagler helped lead powerhouse Hoover High School to four-straight class 7A state championships. The guard’s three-point shooting will allow the Salukis to stretch the floor, and her defensive abilities will allow the team to play up-tempo and aggressive.

Peagler plans on studying Exercise Science with a goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.

“After graduating a four-year starter in Quierra Love and returning veteran Se’Quoia Allmond, I knew I wanted a freshman point guard that we could grow in our system,” Bond-White said. “Coach Webb did a tremendous job of staying connected in the South and found what we believe to be a sleeper in the class. A general consensus from all her coaches is her work ethic is second to none.

AP has a flamethrower that is deadly from three. She has the bounce and shiftiness to get into the lane and create for herself and teammates. I’m excited to see how far her game can continue to elevate. As with all our young ladies, I’m just as excited about her family joining the Salukis. The bond they already created with other signees on their visit is exactly what I envision for this season.”
