CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Carbondale Police continue their search for a driver accused of fatally hitting a person with their car and then leaving the scene.
According to CPD, Michael Welling, 68, of Carbondale, was hit around 11:00 p.m. Friday at the intersection of East Walnut (EB. Route 13) and South Wall Street. Welling died at the scene.
Carbondale Police say their investigation found that 36-year-old Jeremy Shered was driving the car that hit and killed Michael Welling. Shered’s car was found, on fire, around 4:45 p.m. Saturday on East Pleasant Hill Road; arson is the suspected cause.
