WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Williamson County.
On June 4 around 2:25pm, deputies observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations in the area of Stotlar Road east of Route 37.
During the traffic stop occupants of the vehicle admitted to having drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. When asked to exit the vehicle, one passenger, Jordan Travelstead became argumentative.
After opening the back driver’s side door, deputies witnessed Travelstead reach for his pants. Deputies saw a firearm, grabbed the handle, and threw it to the ground. Travelstead was immediately handcuffed and searched. A glass smoking device that later tested positive for methamphetamine was found, and the firearm was later determined to be a look-alike Co2 BB gun.
A probable cause search of the vehicle located a bag containing Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia, and Travelstead’s wallet.
Travelstead was cited for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
