Former Saluki standout DeAnna Price is heading back to the Olympics where she’ll hope to finally capture an Olympic medal.
The #4 ranked women’s hammer thrower in the world, Price posted a 74.52 meter throw to finish second in Eugene, Oregon this past weekend at the Olympic qualifiers, punching her ticket to Paris.
Annette Echikunwoke had the best throw with a 74.68 meter toss.
Price’s personal best throw is 80.31 meters – which she used to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics (which would later take place in 2021). She has claimed gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games, the 2019 World Championships, and the 2018 NACAC Championships.
Based on world rankings, Price enters the Olympics as the #2 competitor – behind world #1 Camryn Rogers of Canada. USA’s Janee’ Kassanavoid (#2 in the world) and Brooke Andersen (#3) did not qualify for a spot on the Paris 2024 roster.
