One correctional Officer jailed, more suspended following allegations of excessive force at Williamson County Jail

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Four correctional officers at the Williamson County Jail have been suspended with pay, one is facing charges, following allegations of excessive force by a recently released inmate.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich says correctional officer Jeffrey Stallings was taken to jail outside of Williamson County Tuesday after he was charged with felony aggravated battery and official misconduct. Video released by the sheriff’s office shows a correctional officer repeatedly punching an inmate in the face.

The incident happened on the night of June 28 and was reported, according to the sheriff’s office on July 1.
