HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police have identified the victim in a murder investigation in Herrin.
58 year old Virginia Melton of Herrin was identified as part of the investigation. Melton was located with multiple gunshot wounds at a residence in the 3100 block of Weaver Road Saturday July 13.
38 year old Tyler Mezo was charged with first degree murder. He appeared in Court on Wednesday July 17, and did not enter a plea.
His next court appearance will be August 7th.
