CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – An arrest has been made in connection to a 2021 shooting that took the life of an SIU student.
Keeshanna Jackson was 18-years-old when she was shot and killed in August 2021 while attending a Carbondale house party. The freshman was celebrating the end of her first week of college.
Multiple witnesses at that party refused to cooperate with investigators leading the case to go unsolved for nearly three years.
On Wednesday, the Carbondale Police Department and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office announced the arrest of Keavonte Nesby, 22, of Carbondale. He’s facing two counts of first degree murder and three other gun charges in connection to the death of Keeshanna Jackson.
Keavonte Nesby will make his first appearance in court on September 4.
