High School Football Scrimmages 2024: Who, When, Where

This season is the first year that the IHSA is allowing a scrimmage between two teams in Week 0 of the season.  Week 0 refers to the week before the first official week of the season.  A majority of Southern Illinois’ teams have found scrimmage partners and plan to meet either Friday, August 23 or Saturday, August 24.

According to the IHSA, these scrimmages must utilize IHSA officials and will have four separate 12-play segments with no special teams. Players are limited to 48 total plays and are only allowed to participate after eight different days of practice. Also, scrimmage participants are not allowed live contact or “thud” in the practices before or after the scrimmage.

Below are this year’s scrimmage partners, where the scrimmage is located, what time the event is expected to start, and any other important information:

Carmi-White County @ Red Hill (6pm)

Centralia @ Robinson (6pm)

Sesser-Valier @ Du Quoin (6:30pm)

Mt. Vernon @ Murphysboro (7pm) (fans asked to bring Gatorade or Powerade to gain entry)

Carterville @ Marion (7pm)

Carbondale @ Chester (7pm)

Richland County (Olney) @ Fairfield (7pm)

Edwards County @ Mt. Carmel (7pm)

Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton @ Pinckneyville (7pm)

Hamilton County @ Benton (7pm)

 

Saturday August 24

Massac County @ Eldorado (6pm)

West Frankfort @ Johnston City (7pm)
