A man is facing Aggravated Assault after attempting to stab a man in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A man faces Aggravated Assault after attempting to stab a man in Carbondale.

Around 1:30am Friday September 6, police responded to the 600 block of North Illinois Avenue for a report of an assault.

Officers learned the suspect was chasing, and attempted to stab, the victim in the roadway. The incident stemmed from a personal dispute between the victim and the suspect. 

The suspect, 66 year old Henry Davis of Cairo, received a non-life-threatening injury when he was struck by a vehicle while he was chasing the victim in the roadway. Davis was taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. The victim was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Davis was issued a citation for Aggravated Assault and released pending a court appearance.
