Mulkeytown Man Charged with Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Mulkeytown man has been charged with criminal sexual assault of a child.

Charles Parvin was found guilty of seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child against three separate child victims.

In April of 2021 one of the victims disclosed to their mother of the assault of her and another child. The other child quickly confirmed the disclosure and later that evening an older female child in the family disclosed that she had been assaulted as well.

The parents called DCFS where the children reported the sexual assault to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Parvin surrendered himself in May of 2021 and has been in custody ever since. The case was set for jury trial multiple times over the years but were continued mostly on Parvin’s motions.

A trial finally began this past Tuesday, September 3 and he was convicted Friday, September 6. Parvin will be sentenced in November and the convictions carry a penalty of mandatory life in prison due to the number of children assaulted.
