Carterville man arrested after police chase, stand off

JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Carterville man was arrested after running from police.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says that on Sept. 4, 32-year-old Jonathan Reed was seen leaving a suspected drug house near Johnston City. A sheriff’s deputy tried to pull Reed’s vehicle over, but police say he fled and the chase was called off over public safety concerns.

On Sept. 5, the WCSO says deputies located Reed at a home near Cambria. He refused to surrender and threatened to hurt himself. After several hours, police entered the home, finding Reed inside, hiding under a mattress.

Jonathan Reed has been charged with felony aggravated fleeing and eluding.  He was released from jail, pending an October 23 court date.
