CARBONDALE, Ill. – Sophia Schlicklin of the Southern Illinois University women’s soccer team has earned weekly honors from the Missouri-Valley Conference, as announced today by the league.
Schlicklin was named the Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
Schlicklin scored two goals against North Alabama on Thursday, Sept. 5. Schlicklin’s first goal against North Alabama came in the first minute and a half of play, putting the Salukis up 1-0 early. Schlicklin scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute, giving SIU the 3-1 lead and victory.
Schlicklin has played in all seven games this season and has started in five. The freshman currently leads the teams in goals with four.
