ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eva Krakowski of Southern Illinois Women’s Volleyball was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
A native of Roselle, Ill., Krakowski put together the best week of her freshman campaign, tallying 17 kills & eight blocks in the win over UT Martin on Tuesday. She followed that up with another 10 kills at Lindenwood on Saturday, the first time she posted back-to-back games with double-digit kills.
Krakowski and the Salukis went 2-1 over the last week with a thrilling comeback win over UT Martin, and a 1-1 split at the Lindenwood Invitational where they lost in five sets to Lindenwood and swept Austin Peay.
Krakowski joins teammates Cecilia Bulmahn (2022, twice) and Ema Stermenska (2023) as the active Salukis to earn the honor.
Southern Illinois will host the Saluki Invitational beginning Thursday, with three matches scheduled for the weekend.
