Thanks to a last second touchdown to come-from-behind and steal a victory on the road at #2 Mt. Vernon 37-34, the Marion Wildcats soared from the #5 ranking all the way up to the #1 ranking in this week’s Little Egypt Football Poll.
The Murphysboro Red Devils went to #1 Benton and used a strong start to win on the road 28-20 to climb from the #4 ranking to #2. The Red Devils also garnered the most first place votes this week but couldn’t muster up enough points take the top rung.
Carterville and Du Quoin tied for the #7 ranking following a 31-0 win at Herrin for Du Quoin and a 21-16 victory over West Frankfort for Carterville.
