Disaster declaration approved for Washington County flood damage

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Washington County will get federal funding to help clean up the mess left by severe weather this summer.

Washington County was one of 7 Illinois counties covered by a major disaster declaration signed by President Biden Monday.

In July, heavy rainfall caused flash flooding. The town of Nashville was hit particularly hard, with the town’s drinking water reservoir topping the dam and flooding about 70 homes.
