ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Dory Latenser and Fabiana Solano of the Southern Illinois University women’s soccer team both earned weekly awards for the Missouri Valley Conference, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Freshman defender Dory Latenser received the MVC Defender of the Week award. Latenser netted her first goal as a Saluki on Thursday, Sept. 26, against Indiana State. Latenser’s goal knotted the score at 1-1 in the 87th minute and the Salukis finished with a draw against the Sycamores.
Fifth year goalkeeper Fabiana Solano was named the Goalkeeper of the Week by the MVC. Solano has started and played in all 11 games this season. Solano is ranked second in the MVC for goals allowed with only nine this year. Against Murray State on Sunday, Sept. 29, Solano had 10 saves in a shutout victory over the Racers.
Latenser and Solano both played the full 90 minutes on Sunday against Murray State.
