ST. LOUIS – Southern Illinois basketball’s Rolyns Aligbe has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the League office announced Monday afternoon.
Aligbe, a Minneapolis, Minnesota native, made his first career start for the Salukis on the road at Northern Iowa Sunday. He scored seven points and recorded a team-high eight rebounds for Southern in the loss.
The big man is averaging 4.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 14 minutes of action per game this season. He has recorded five or more points in six games and had a season-high 10 rebounds on the road at Florida.
