Stolen pickup truck recovered, suspect arrested

CAMBRIA, Ill. (WJPF) – A brief chase ended with a stolen truck recovered and one man in custody.

A white Ford pickup was reported stolen from a home in Cambria just before 9:00 am Saturday. Less than an hour later, police had located the truck by tracking its own onboard GPS.

A short chase ended in a remote area near Veterans airport. The accused thief, Wesley New of De Soto, drove through a field and abandoned the truck in a patch of woods. He was arrested trying to make a run on foot.

Wesley New was taken to the Williamson County Jail on charges including theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and criminal damage to property.
