CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – An East St. Louis man has been arrested in connection to the armed robbery of a food delivery driver earlier this week in Carbondale.
Carbondale Police say Elijah Holmes, 19, was questioned about the Sunday night robbery and gave investigators a fake name. When they figured out his real identity, they also discovered he had an active warrant for a parole violation. He was arrested this week and during his arrest police found two guns in his possession, including one that had been reported stolen. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail on charges including possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and obstructing justice.
The investigation into the armed robbery in the 2300 block of South Illinois Avenue is still open and active. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department.
