Logan Softball receives Top 25 preseason ranking

The NJCAA released their softball preseason poll on Tuesday and the John A. Logan Volunteers were given a nod by the national rankings.  The Vols are the #24 team in the nation in the preseason.

Head coach Taylor Siefert expects returners like Anna Rolla and Skylar Rachal to be key pieces in the coming season to bolster that preseason ranking.

Rolla, a West Frankfort native, is expected to handle shortstop for the Vols.  She averaged .318/.328/.434 last season in 50 games for Logan with five doubles, two triples, and two home runs.

Rachal is the lead catcher to start the season for Logan.  In 41 games last season, she averaged .346/.418/.523 with 13 doubles and two home runs.  She’ll also be shouldered with the responsibility of guiding a young pitching staff from behind the plate.

Siefert also has a new coaching staff working with her team this season with former player Hayley Palm and former SIU Softball coach Kerri Blaylock joining the ranks.

#24 Logan Softball opens the season on February 6th with a pair of games at Coastal Alabama – North.
