The Goreville Blackcats collected a solid victory in a key 1A matchup with the Woodlawn Cardinals on Saturday 81-67. The victory marked Goreville coach Todd Tripp’s 450th career victory with the school.
The 14-point victory was Goreville’s 19th of the season. They are now 19-2. The Goreville-Woodlawn matchup could potentially be a sectional matchup in early March with Woodlawn in Subsectional A of the Cobden Sectional while Goreville is in Subsectional B.
Tripp has been coaching Goreville since the 2004-05 season and racked up a record of 450-186. His career record is 477-233. He also coached at Elverado for three seasons from 2001-2004.
The Blackcats return to conference action on Tuesday night at Johnston City.
